It’s very reassuring to see that the inhabitants of the forum can still have a good row even when there’s nothing left to row about. However I do miss the pompous sanctimonious drivel of the preening anonymous warrior calling himself Grandaddy, no thread is complete without his nine bob’s worth , telling us how clever he is. So we’ve avoided relegation with 4 games to go, and we are nowhere near the playoffs . A totally dull and stress free end to the season. And we don’t appear at imminent risk of going bust. I think it’s the first stress free season end since 2018 . God life is so boring . I’ve got an open mind about MM, he was brilliant here first time round, but has failed everywhere since then. But I’m sure it will be entertaining, and he will be very driven to succeed . Well said Paul, as ever, the voice of reason and balance

Pretty much how I see it. He's got a free hit at it for the end of this season to work out who he wants to keep and who can fit into his system next season. I think we are safe, it would be a miracle if we got relegated now after last night results. I fully expect us to get the 3pts awarded for the abandoned game after the slime won the league last night. So if that isn't enough, another point in the final 3 games will do it. By all accounts we were woeful against Maidstone and we failed to beat Eastbourne. What you guys are saying is its acceptable to be served up poor fayre. Sorry, but its my hard earned cash that helps pay the wages. If we are not going to be competitive and entertaining against Farnborough, then perhaps I should take my money elsewhere Y*****e , Dorchester , Poole ?

With Mark, I worked with him on placement when I was uni. All I can say he doesn’t leave any stone unturned. He works tirelessly watching games etc sending people to watch games having people in the stands.
He strives for only the very best (that included myself, make a bad pass you got bollocked). Things right now probably won’t go our way no training sessions etc. I imagine right now he’s trying out the team seeing who he wants for next season or what he needs. I imagine if you asked him or Tom about the move they made they would tell you a huge mistake.
I really am not worrying about the results for this season now. Maybe, bias he knows exactly what he wants and players he needs to be able to play his way, and with a club like Weymouth and chairman we have will back that. The players have even come out and said it’s a very different type of football. I think the MM doubters need to wait till next season 10 games in and make their decision then. All I’ll say is give him time and a pre season.
To me it’s a great time to get a manager in. When he came in it was a slim chance of us getting relegated, he can see this season players to see who he wants. He also knows the players league below who could come through. Also, very close with Bournemouth still.

To be fair, I think the people who have sounded negative are really sitting on the fence and have just expressed a different opinion to encourage debate. I am definitely on the fence for several reasons. I said in another post that I don't like former hero's coming back to their place of conquest, just look at the shit Claridge got and Matty Hale was not as successful as a manager. I would fear an unsuccessful MM would get Claridgeesq treatment from the usual suspects. I also think that MM has not shown too much loyalty either, firstly dumping us for Southend, which I totally understand his decision and secondly, bailing on the club before us (can't remember the team, I try not to look at the leagues below us), to me he should of stayed and gone down with the ship. Changing the way we play for the last four games is rubbish and again I can see why, but I don't agree. The lads should have been able to see out the season the way they have been playing all season ( good or bad as it may be).
I think we are all probably excited for next season and none of us are really judging the manager just yet, obviously come Christmas it may be a different scenario, ( Late September for some of the experts).
And for Groveterra, Wyke Terra is still here, just moved location and name, but moved again, so if you see Westham terra, it may well be me!!
And Matty Churchouse was the Blacklisted of days gone by lol!!!

There's alot of waffle here about putting my hard earned cash in , how we deserve this and that from the performances. Jesus if you want consistency try and choose another form of entertainment. You won't get consistent results from football no matter the level you watch. Especially with academy players and players who have settled at this level of football. A fan watches games in fair wind and foul. Don't care if MM experiments. Will help for next season as this season's pretty much buttoned up and dispatched.
I was bothered about how we were dumped by MM though.

I was bothered about how we were dumped by MM though. I don't blame MM for leaving us in 2020 to become a Manager for what was then a League One team. He secured two consecutive promotions, and his stock was high. The average League One Manager was reported to earn £182,000 a year in 2020, and he signed a three year contract. Even if Southend United were offering a below average managerial salary, it would've been a significant salary increase compared with managing a part-time National League South team. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8262315/Physios-191-000-kit-men-56-000-Crazy-wages-dont-add-EFL-clubs-brink.htmlI hope he does well, and I'm looking forward to seeing some exciting young loan players from AFC Bournemouth next season.

The biggest potential problem I see is the chairman and the manager being the best of friends.

The biggest problem I see is the chairman and the manager being the best of friends. The chairman was initially very close to Bobby but that didn’t prevent a decision being taken ( it’s not just the chairman’s decision BTW) . If things go wrong under MM - and my guess is they won’t and we will have a good season next season - then I don’t doubt the correct decision will be taken . Personally after the much publicised 34 managers in 36 years, I would like a bit of stability . My admiration for BW was known and I’m sure he will succeed in his next job , but the football under MM will be more entertaining . Also, I like MM’s interviews

Do we know who made the decision and what it was? You’re a loyal soul. The answer to both questions: MANAGER STATEMENT Weymouth Football Club and Bobby Wilkinson regret to announce that they have parted company by mutual consent. The club would like to thank Bobby for his efforts in achieving “the great escape” last season and in progressing the team forward in National League South this season, and wishes him every success in the future. Above taken from WFC website news, dated 28th March. Just to be clear, for Weymouth Football Club you need to read WFC Board of Directors, who took the decision, which as stated, was to part company by mutual consent. At the AGM the Chairman stated that the club would not be making any further statement. I hope that helps to clarify our position?

Mutual agreement is a smokescreen ….. one was either pushed or resigned of their own accorded. The fact that he left along all with his back room staff with immediate effect suggests he was pushed (their loyalty to him)… This is backed up by the fact he hasn’t been announced in a new role as yet! I’m not interested in why he was pushed other than he style of football or his inabilities to build a stable team or to develop young players was obvious .. his style of play and tactics were from the dark ages and his intellect in interviews was repetitive and patronising to say the least. So for me it was for football reason and his limitations had been realised … I think he did what he came to do( stay in NS) and when MM became available then PM and the board felt MM was the better option considering his history of success in the past. Time will tell .. but I for one think! …..from a footballing and entertainment perspective MM offers a better ethos ….. on a personal note I live in the London area and have always watched at least 6 away games per season in and around this area in the BW era I went to 2…
