All looks promising everyone has a role and I hope Josh recovers in time for the start of the new season. Georgie staying till end of season is the only hiccup maybe it’s a contract thing and she will be back when we ok next season

Great news on all fronts, especially that Jason is staying with the club. I hope MM gives this squad a fair crack of the whip, we saw on Monday an outstanding football performance from a very young team. No doubt he will want to change some things but we bossed Y*****. There are some very good young players there . I'm looking forward to Andy's 24/25 squad watch thread already!! I think MM will try to keep a fair few but more often than not players will leave of their own accord. I think it's of paramount importance we try and retain Goodship, Bearwish, Hamblin, Howe and Thompson. Those players would form the basis of a good team. I would think Benfield will be looking to next season as I can't see us getting Wiles-Richards permanently as he is highly thought of at Bristol City. You'd think MM will be looking at getting another keeper in for competition. Always difficult for injured players coming back from long layoffs but we've got the likes of Hemmings who was excellent from what I saw, McQuoid and Brooks to see if they can get fit and get into contention next season. Panter and Parsons would be good additions if they are deemed surplus to requirements at their parent clubs. Touray seems to move around a lot but I get the impression he likes it here so hopefully we can keep him on for next season. Keelan was great last season and I was delighted see him re-sign but he's not been the player he was, I don't think Bobby gave him a fair crack so I'd like to see him get another chance. Roberts works hard and I was chuffed to see him get his goal in a big game and I'm still not 100% sure he's the right player to lead the line for us but I'd look to keep him on. Think Frankie Monk could come of age next season now he's had plenty of loan experience at decent local sides.

Would like Touray, Thompson, howe, hamblin to stay. Hamblin and Howe are the mould of fullbacks we had when Calvin and harfield used to go forward, so can see them being with us. Panter would be very handy but I can imagine Eastleigh will want him back. I would also like Mose to tap up Camp and take him on loan for a few months to get him back match sharp! Bring Linton back as well. McCarthy, Whelan and maybe even Omar Mussa would be three id also like to look at. Jake won’t stay at Havant I can’t imagine but dependent on financial along with Tom. Omar seems to come and go at the daggers so who knows? Think it’s fair to say there will be a real buzz back next season. Maybe Ngalo and Cam Murray back too.

If the players could play with the same grit as they did in the Y*****e game consistently, I would keep them all.

I wonder if player retention/recruitment will be less south east based next season? Will our current players still be willing to travel? Will our training location remain the same? Very interesting thoughts on who folks would like to see us get. I note that so far, most are mentioning players we've had before. Maybe Mark will have his eye on players not known to us. Are there players from elsewhere that fans have seen this season that would fit our ethos, location and budget? As a fan, I must admit I love the recruitment and retention process. It must be a nightmare for management and directors though, especially with the modern day "Agent" influences. Do we give out contracts and hope that players don't disappoint or get injured? Do we go non contract and lose a potential superstar for nothing? As always we'll have to keep firm control of the purse strings no matter how compelling speculation can seem. Firstly we must keep 100% focused on the next game until mathematically we're assured of staying up. Changes to our style of play can be tinkered with once we're safe.

I was originally against the appointment of MM mainly because of what he has (or mainly hasn't) done since leaving us back in 2020. Since then he has had 4 jobs at Southend, Aldershot, Gosport and Hayes and hasn't done anything of note, obviously Southend's problems are well documented but Aldershot and Gosport have both improved since he left and Hayes are struggling in the Southern league. However despite that I am gradually coming round to thinking that he could be a good appointment especially with him now having the final few games with the pressure mostly off to assess the current squad and look at some of the players that weren't here back then.
I have always said that when a new manager comes in the ideal scenario is to have a mixture of keeping existing players and being able to bring their own players in, as you want some kind of continuity. With some of the squad having worked under MM before then that obviously helps. It will also be interesting to see where the club plan to train next season as that will have an impact on what players are brought in, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the club still decide to train at Eastleigh/Stoneham as that will allow for a bigger pool of players to choose from and I believe that MM is based in London now that he doesn't have the Bournemouth job.
Whatever happens I do think that thw style of football will be better than what it under Bobby as I was very critical of him as there was no real plan and we all know about Bobby bingo with him saying the same things post match, win lose or draw. I was also critical of the many signings last summer with it seeing to be a rushed scattergun approach with a lot of players being signed early on with many of them seldom used.

I think Bobby Wilkinson arrived with a job to do; Turning a poor, underperforming team that were pretty well down, saving them from relegation then getting the team on the road to gradual improvement. I think he achieved that and potentially may have carried on that improvement over the next few years. Guess we shall never know...
As for MM, he was superb whilst here before, used his Bournemouth connections, got players playing to their optimum. He got results and got the team playing exciting football. Now, I don't think those skills will have vanished.
His time at Southend was, as mentioned, with a seriously flawed club, poor finances and was no doubt a step too far up the ladder. I've no idea what the finances or situation was at Aldershot, but as Weymouth found out, the jump from NLS to NL is pretty huge for teams, players and managers. Likewise with Gosport and Hayes, we don't know the background at either club.
We know that MM has the ability with Weymouth at this level. He will have some of his original players, his original backroom staff, hopefully his original contacts and more as well as additional experience. I'm hopeful he will be able to do a job and continue our current upward trend.

Exciting football?? Sideways, possesion, sideways. Successful though. I'd take successive promotions rather than 'exciting' football any day of the week.

Love MM to bits after his success here before but I think what's happened since he left makes his appointment now a massive gamble from the board and not one I'd have the courage to make I have to say.
We've been sucked into making rushed appointments lately - Stock, Oldfield, Wilkinson - these were necessary given they were after the season had started or, in the case of Stock a few weeks before a COVID hit season forced by MM's sudden decision to leave for Southend - not MM's fault of course but once that decision was made, both his and WFC's fortunes seemed to go into a parallel nosedive - in WFC's case, near fatally.
This time we had ample time to conduct a full proper recruitment process carefully considering interested applicants but it seems the decision was made before the ink was dry on Bobby's P45.
Still, despite these misgivings, I know Mark holds the club dear to his heart and I see no reason why he cannot, in time get the club ticking over as efficiently as it was in 2020. He has my full support.
As for his first result last Saturday, his first in his first stint with us was a shock 1-0 defeat at home to St. Ives. We ended up in the play-offs.

He did so well for us but since then his managerial record has been somewhat subdued in comparison. 1 relegation and 3 near relegations (Hayes and Yeading may still be relegated this season, which is some achievement given they were 2 points away from the play off zone when he was appointed) I agree with Andy, its a massive gamble and not one the club needed to make.

As I understand it , the decision to replace BW was made weeks ago. I would call it a calculated gamble rather than a knee-jerk reaction to a sudden dismissal.

its a massive gamble and not one the club needed to make. The removal of BW or the appointment of MM? The former may have been essential.

We've been sucked into making rushed appointments lately - Stock, Oldfield, Wilkinson Not all of them were rushed. He left the club as we embarked on the National League somewhat unprepared with changes in Management, Board and Playing staff, and he joined a club on the brink of bankruptcy with a serial liar as its chairman. Not really surprising how scenarios played out. Or...a swift decision was made to enable the new manager (a known entity, with known connections) time to assess the squad before a summer rebuild/recruitment programme. Who need enemies? That's the spirit!!

Can’t believe some of the stuff I read on here or can I ? Opinions whatever shape or size are always welcome but why do people want to rewrite or reword history.
We have a manager with a proved track record at THIS club fact
when mark was the manager previously we played great football in my opinion, he built a great team in my opinion, we won 2 successive promotions-FACT
There is always a risk in but it’s about risk mitigation/interventions, this is a low risk appointment and one I was personally calling for last year (again my opinion)
I am personally really excited much more so than before about what the future holds on the playing side -again opinion.

I so hope anyone who doubts Molesley, and that includes me, are proven 100% wrong. It would be great if he can rediscover what made him successful last time. This club badly needs a season or two of better performances on the pitch.
