Sad as it is the FA cup isn’t even close to the competition it was 30-20 or even 10 years ago. Its decline in popularity is for a multitude of reasons alas the bulk of then revolve around money.
The sad truth is that the FA cup has always been loaded in the favour of the bigger clubs be it the fact that the higher up the pyramid you are the later you enter the competition meaning the prize money say a championship team gain for winning just one game is almost certainly a multiple of what say Weymouth would getting through 3 or 4 rounds
Try reading the EFLs statement complaining that neither they nor the NL were consulted. That’s what circa 150 teams yet the EfL had 4 attendees at a meeting of 8 the other 4 were from the PL that in effect agreed the changes .Where was the representation from the other near 600 clubs that enter the competition and why no mention of those clubs in the EFL statement?
Sorry the EFL are as guilty as the PL they don’t give a jot about clubs lower down the pyramid it’s all about them and because they don’t get their way they have become petulant both on this matter and when it comes to TV money they basically want to have a greater share but where is their desire to share with the pyramid?
Most won’t have a clue but for non league clubs , particularly in the early stages make absolutely nothing from gate receipts by the time you pay officials, away teams travel, VAT etc them it’s that uncommon that the clubs share a loss.

Now was that not a team and a half. Yep it certainly was a great team, some great photos there Iddy, but what an electric moment when Andy Harris put that bullet header in at their place, bringing the replay back to the Bob Lucas. Surely they can't bring a stop to that?

Surely they can't bring a stop to that? That's what really grinds me. The moments of where teams like Forest coming to us or Exeter hosting UTD after their own players and fans got to play at those stadiums with so much history and prestige in a competitive setting is irraplaceable, both financially and atmospherically.

To be honest, Andy’s goal gave us the lift and momentum we needed that day. Without a replay looming, it’s very likely we’d have gone on to win in regular or even extra time. Then that would have negated the (albeit wonderful evening and spectacle) need for a replay when we had to start cold again. But yes, I hate, detest and deplore the FA’s autocratic, illegal even, and completely unjust, uncalled for and indefensible decision to play God on one of the Game’s great institutions.
