A fully fit Malachi Linton would score an absolute hatful here and in my know-nothing opinion, we should move heaven and earth to get him .
However I imagine there will be several clubs after his signature , including Hemel Hempstead FC

Would be fantastic if we can sign Linton.

The goals certainly dried up once he got injured. I'd prefer him over Roberts or Touray.

The goals certainly dried up once he got injured. I'd prefer him over Roberts or Touray. Roberts works his nuts off for the team but is not a main central striker. Around 10 goals a season is probably about right. Touray is an impact sub for when the opposition defences are tiring at 70+ mins. I’ve seen him a few times when he’s started and he’s looked pretty lightweight and ineffective against NLS centre halves. He has no pace to speak of but does have that handy knack of being in the right place to finish off chances. Linton is that strong central striker who doesn’t get pushed off the ball easily. The fact he can hold off defenders, allowing team mates to get up in support is something we’ve lacked for a long time. As stated, he got injured and the teams goals dropped off a cliff. Also no coincidence that Brandon went through his purple patch of goalscoring when Linton was in the team. Whether he fits MM’s philosophy I’m not sure but hopefully there’s a decent chance we could get him.

Whether he fits MM’s philosophy I’m not sure but hopefully there’s a decent chance we could get him. Neither Roberts nor Touray are classic target- man central strikers. NLS seems a physical league at times and we do look physically weaker up front than some of the defences we come up against. I wouldn't mind seeing a battering ram striker arrive for Touray and Roberts to feed off. I think Thommo has had his day but a taller Mk.2 wouldn't go amiss. Linton is both strong and mobile but not quite as tall as some of the central defenders we come up against.I see him as an upgrade on Roberts, who I like. Touray doesn't have much physical presence , neither he nor Roberts are built that way, but I'd love to see him playing off the scraps that a big man creates. He'd get on the end of tons of half-chances and loose balls. M.M. must know that Brandon's success was due in large part to playing in between Baggie who had the ball glued to his feet and dragged defenders all over the place and Thommo who knocked the others over. So I'd like to see Baggie Mk.2 as well. Tomlinson isn't quite there (yet?) but gives the team great shape up the left with a bit of bite to him too. He just doesn't hang on to the ball the way Baggie did Parsons looks very skillfull and whilst I dont see him scoring tons id be happy to see him in a sort of no 10 /advanced midfield role Our spine is lightweight so centre back recruitment is a must and retaining Charlie Rowan would be great. Charlie MK.2 in midfield would also help squad building

Would love to see a Baggie type player if there was one available in the summer. Such a joy to Watch when he was in full flow...I've still not lost hope O'Connell could be such a player, but he didn't really find much form last term...hopefully working with Molesley might help him kick on next term

Oscar Rutherford is another good player that Eastleigh have released. Think there is a chance that winterburn will be released by Bournemouth too

Not a big fan of this. He’s proved on numerous occasions he’s way too light weight for the NLS. Unless MM sees something in him and thinks he’ll be better when utilised in his style of play then fair enough. Not for me but delighted to be proved wrong.

I think he's got the right attributes to be a tricky player cutting in from the left or bombing onto the byline and crossing from the right and could be a decent foil for a Thommo, Linton type striker. If he plays like the season before last then I think he'll be a valuable asset. From what I've heard he was treated pretty badly by Wilkinson. I think Moles being a man manager might get the best out of him.

Don't forget he has also come through the Bournemouth set up, so he will already know what MM will expect from him

In our level of football a couple of 'big units' are often essential; agreed.
When you consider though that Man City and Liverpool have successfully employed half a dozen or so almost straight out of their youth squads, and all of them at the opposite end of the brick ****house spectrum, you can also see where, with the right coaching, O'Connell could achieve the potential that some people see in him.

I see O'connell as a Baggie type player, I don't think BW played him to his strengths.
